Sugar Off

I went to a Sugar Camp today - a VERY Quebec thing to do in the spring... it was pretty cool. We donner our rubber boots and helped take the sap-filled buckets off the trees, then helped boil the crap out the sap (which is just like water when it's fresh out of the trees) to make the syrup... yummy. They pour the hot syrup over snow for taffy, and then we drank sloe gin and the fresh sap. Not quite so yummy, but interesting still the same. Caban a sucre is the french term (with a few missing accents, no doubt!). We were actually at a private camp (I have NEVER been on someone's property that was as large as this place - their neighbor is none other than PM Paul Martin!)... he's vacationing in Jamaica right now, if anyone cares! Does the PM have his own jet, like AirForce One?? Cool.
